ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) – The chief executive officer of a southcentral Alaska regional Native corporation has resigned.

Ed Herndon stepped down as CEO of Chugach Alaska Corp. He was hired by the corporation in 2002 and was appointed CEO in May 2009.

Board Chairwoman Sheri Buretta will be acting CEO. She has 13 year's experience with the company.

The company is owned by more than 2,300 shareholders of Alutiiq, Eskimo and Indian heritage.
