Jacoby Ellsbury a Navajo member of the Colorado River Tribes. His season's finals are the following.

MLB.com expected him to make 200 hits and he did. He was second for the AL with 212 hits, only one behind two other players who tied for first place. Perhaps if he had not missed four games when he was hit with a ball in the back by a pitcher, he would have made more hits.

The Boston Red Sox did not make the play offs due to a not so steller September, but Jacoby received numerous awards for his offense and defense game performance. Not only was he an AL All Star, he was the first Red Sox player in franchise history to make the 30/30 club with 30SB and 30HR. By the end of the season he had 39 SB and 32HR.

He was voted the MLB Players Choice AL Comeback Player of the Year, the Red Sox Comeback Player of the year, and was winner of the Rawlings Gold Glove and the Louisville Silver Slugger Award. He was one of two AL players to have a perfect fielding percentage of 1.000% with 388 putouts and no errors. In 158 games and 660 AB, his batting average was .321 with 46 Doubles,  105 RBIs, 119 RUNS and .928 OPS.

He was in contention for the AL MVP but came in second to a pitcher, the CY Young Winner. This 2011 season was outstanding for this young baseball player, including walk off winning hits and 3 HRs against the Yankees in a double header.

Jacoby Ellsbury is a very important Native American Indian role model for Navajo children, as well as other Native children. We need more role models like Jacoby Ellsbury and let's continue to support him.
