On June 21, 2012 our Haskell Upward Bound program along with other Upward Bound programs in the surrounding area would like the community, friends, and family to join us in making the largest round dance in Kansas once again. Are hope to is get even more people involved this year!  We are excited to share with the community and welcome everyone to join in to make this possible. This benefit Powwow is about giving and sharing with our youth and community. Haskell Upward Bound Students will be given the opportunity to share what they have learned with the community about the importance of healthy minds and bodies as a part of “Building Native Wellness Today For Tomorrow.”  We hope you can also join us during this important event in Lawrence.

The HASKELL UPWARD BOUND program assists low-income first generation college bound high school youth in obtaining the academic skills and the motivation necessary to attend a post-secondary institution. The program services are provided throughout the academic year and during a five-week residential program held on the Haskell  Indian Nations University campus during the summer. HASKELL UPWARD BOUND is dedicated to preparing American Indian high school students for successful entry into and the completion of college. HASKELL UPWARD BOUND will encourage American Indian students by providing counseling, tutoring and mentoring to help them succeed with their education, as well as succeed in life.
