FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Holt Hamilton Productions – producer of Native American films “More Than Frybread,” “Turquoise Rose,” “Blue Gap Boy’z,” and “Pete & Cleo” – recently completed the filming of its fifth feature film “Legends From the Sky” on the Navajo Nation.

To raise funds for post-production costs, director Holt Hamilton has created a Kickstarter campaign. The fundraising goal is $30,000 that will be used for post-production costs including more than 100 visual effects shots.

“It’s more than we had anticipated but we are very determined to make this film great,” Hamilton said. “This is our first Native American sci-fi film, and as an independent filmmaker I want to make a spectacular experience for our audience. We don’t want to stall this project rather we are hoping our / investors will help us get this film completed and in theaters.”

“Legends From the Sky” is a science fiction thriller about a Native American veteran burdened by survivor’s guilt from a disastrous military tour who finds himself searching for his grandfather who disappears when an unknown federal organization takes over his ancestral land.

Filming was completed in June, and the movie is in post-production. Filming was predominantly on location at Dine College in Tsaile and surrounding locations with a few days filmed on the Makah Reservation in Neah Bay, Washington. This is the first science fiction thriller produced by Holt Hamilton Productions.

“It’s important that our project backers see this as a pre-purchase of our film and not a charitable donation,” Hamilton explained. “The Kickstarter campaign is an early sales venue.”

Theater release is scheduled for Jan. 30 at eight locations including Gallup, New Mexico; Farmington, New Mexico; Oklahoma City; Denver; Tempe; Tucson; Roswell, New Mexico; and Durango, Colorado.

Interested investors can go to the Kickstarter website and search for the “Legends From the Sky” film project. There investors will find a list of pledges that includes pre-orders sales of DVDs, signed autographed posters and movie prop replicas.

The goal of $30,000 must be raised by 5 p.m. Jan. 20.
