Santa to turn on Christmas Lights Nov. 26, Christmas Celebration, Holiday Movies Planned

A new holiday tradition in Chickasaw Country will begin 5:30 p.m. Monday, November 26 when Santa Claus officially turns on the Christmas lights at the Chickasaw Cultural Center campus.

Cookies, candy canes and coloring books will be given away while supplies last during the lighting ceremony, which is free and open to the public.

Dozens of displays featuring traditional Christmas themes will be included in the free drive-through Christmas light display, which will be lit every evening from 5:30 to 9 p.m., during the month of December.

The third annual Christmas Celebration will be conducted 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8.

Celebrations of several significant holiday traditions are included in the event.
Traditional Village tours, complete with hot chocolate, will be offered from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.  A traditional Stomp Dance will take place in the village at 11 a.m.

A Native American miniature ornament class is planned, as well as a children’s ornament workshop.

There is no charge for admission to the cultural center campus, village tours, stomp dance, or workshops.

Admission to the Chikasha Poya Exhibit Center is $6. Chickasaw citizens are admitted at no charge.

Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be on-hand for visits and photos 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the Anoli’ Theater Lobby. Photos with Santa will be $5.

Injunuity will perform in concert. The Native band primarily performs its original compositions, which are described as a combination of traditional and modern themes.

“The Polar Express” will be shown in the Anoli’ Theater at 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 1 p.m. Sunday.

Holiday sales will be offered all-day at cultural center retail shops.


Holiday Tuesday Night Movies

Several fun holiday movies will be featured at the Anoli’ Theater at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday nights in December, including;

·       Dec. 4 –“A Christmas Story”

·       Dec. 11 -  “It’s A Wonderful Life”

·       Dec. 18 -  “Elf”

Movie tickets are $2 for children, $3 for adult or choose a $5 combo deal that includes soda, popcorn and movie ticket.

The Chickasaw Cultural Center is open Tuesday- Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday noon to 4 p.m.
