ALBUQUERQUE – Navajo writer Rutherford Ashley has released his latest e-book, titled A Navajo Scrapbook (Indigenous Quill, 2013). The e-book is available in the Amazon.com Kindle store as a free purchase for a limited time promotion (11/18/13 to 11/22/13) to kick off the holiday season.

“I went the Kindle route for this book so the work could be exposed to a world-wide audience of book lovers," said Ashley. “The work is very conventional or easy to read … which is important because my goal is to give people a great experience.”

According to the Ashley, the promotion is not only an early Christmas gift to readers worldwide, but a time for the media or reviewers to obtain a free digital copy of A Navajo Scrapbook. The book will be available in paperback in late summer 2014.

Book Description:  Rutherford Ashley, of the Navajo people, presents a scrapbook of 202 poems that are snapshots of the Navajo experience, from being too young for grade-school in the 1970s to dealing with other aspects of Navajo life. The work is like a photo album examining Navajo identity, especially with its release at the dawn of 2013. The book is an easy read that develops the "muse" of Basil (central character) and the antithesis of Basil or Basil's conflicted Western-Navajo identity in a changing world.
