During the month of September, 2014, Veterans in rural communities across the State of Oklahoma will have access to the Mobile Vet Center (MVC).  Mobile Vet Centers are operated by the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Readjustment Counseling Services; and are designed to provide nonmedical readjustment counseling and outreach to Veterans and their families by addressing the social and economic dimensions of post-war needs.  Throughout September, MVCs will make stops as indicated below between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM each day:

Friday, September 5, 2014            123 S. Main Street, Medford (Medford Civic Center)

Saturday, September 6, 2014            615 W. Doolin Ave., Blackwell (National Guard Armory)

Saturday, September 13, 2014            1506 Fir Street. Perry. (Walmart Parking Lot)

Saturday, September 20, 2014            NE 23rd & Henney Rd., Choctaw (Red Caboose Park)

At each location, a Disabled American Veterans Mobile Service Van (manned by Veteran Service Officers) will provide Veterans and their families with the opportunity to file claims for service-connected injuries or illnesses, apply for VA pensions and dependent and survivor benefits.

Mobile Vet Centers are among the VA’s premier front-line resources designed to interact with Veterans in rural communities, at community events, and on special occasions.  As an integral part of the Vet Center system, MVCs offer Veterans information on topics such as individual and group counseling, military sexual trauma, marital and family counseling, VA benefits, and community education.

Veterans and family members seeking information about the Vet Center or other Department of Veterans Affairs services can visit the Mobile Vet Center on a walk-in basis during this important state-wide outreach effort.  The Vet Center looks forward to providing an opportunity to engage in face-to-face dialog with a VA representative within the local community.

At the foundation of the Vet Center Program is respect for the privacy of all Veterans and family members, by maintaining all information is the strictest confidence.  Staff will not communicate or transfer any information to any third party or agency without written consent of the individual Veteran, except in circumstances when necessary to avert a crisis situation.
