MUSKOGEE, Okla. – The Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center (JCMVAMC) is pleased to announce the development of a new Medical Foster Home (MFH) Program, which gives eligible Veterans the option of living in a family setting when they can no longer stay in their own home.

Placement in a MFH is voluntary and the MFH Program will help match eligible Veterans with approved homes and experienced caregivers who will provide the Veteran with room and board, personal care and 24-hour supervision.  Veterans will also receive in-home medical visits from the JCMVAMC Home Based Primary Care Team.

The MFH program will monitor and conduct oversight of each MFH, and approved caregivers must meet annual training requirements and must pass an annual VA inspection.

MFHs are an affordable alternative to nursing homes or assisted living facilities and cost will be based on the Veteran's care needs and financial resources. Caregivers will be paid directly by the Veteran or the Veterans' family or legal representative.

For more information about the MFH program or to find out if you are entitled to additional VA benefits that will help pay for a MFH, please contact Susie Kent, MFH Coordinator, at 918-628-2723.
