The Indian Health Service (IHS), in partnership with the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board, has developed the “I Strengthen My Nation” educational media campaign to help Native communities address drug and alcohol abuse.

This national prevention campaign delivers culturally relevant messages and information designed to empower Native youth to resist pressure to use drugs and alcohol. Campaign materials highlight the strengths of youth who reject the use of alcohol and other substances, and consist of fact sheets, brochures, posters, public service announcements, T-shirts, lanyards, and window clings. The youth who participated in the development of this campaign did so in the hopes that these messages will promote resilience, healthy behaviors, and new social norms.

Educational materials were developed in collaboration with tribal community members and can be downloaded from the IHS website.
