PHOENIX (AP) – A Window Rock, Arizona, man has been sentenced to 30 years for killing a man on the Navajo Nation in 2011.

A U.S. District Court judge in Phoenix on Monday sentenced 43-year-old Corbert Goldtooth in the stabbing death of another Navajo man, Virgil Teller, at Teller’s home in Fort Defiance, Arizona, early the morning of July 31, 2011.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Arizona said Goldtooth stabbed the victim 16 times and was a member of a street gang.

A jury on June 29 convicted Goldtooth of second-degree murder.
