PHOENIX (AP) – A San Carlos man has pleaded guilty to arson on his tribe's reservation and could face up to life in prison.
Federal prosecutors said Monday that 20-year-old Marty Charles Randall entered his plea in U.S. District Court in Phoenix.
Authorities say Randall was intoxicated and intentionally set fire to a home and a car on the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation on Oct. 30, 2009. They say Randall's father and sisters were inside the home at the time.
A tribal police officer saw the fire and got the occupants to safety without injury.
Prosecutors say Randall is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 10 and could be facing up to life imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine.
