AZTEC, N.M. (AP) – Two men who branded a swastika on the arm of a Navajo man with mental disabilities are facing nine years in state prison.

The Farmington Daily Times reports 28-year-old Paul Beebe and 26-year-old Jesse Sanford were sentenced earlier this week in state court.

Beebe pleaded guilty to attempted kidnapping and aggravated battery. Sanford also pleaded guilty to attempted kidnapping and conspiracy to commit aggravated battery.

Also, plea agreements say the defendants will serve federal prison time concurrent with the state sentences.

A third defendant, 29-year-old, William Hatch, was convicted of conspiracy to commit aggravated battery.

Jurors acquitted Hatch of more serious charges, including kidnapping and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.
