PINE RIDGE, S.D. (AP) – Opponents of a proposed oil pipeline from Canada to the Texas Gulf Coast on Thursday were riding horses and bicycles from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation to the Rosebud Reservation in southern South Dakota.

The protesters included actress Daryl Hannah, who was arrested last summer in a protest outside the White House against TransCanada's proposed Keystone XL pipeline.

Opponents of the pipeline worry that it will harm the environment, including underground aquifers. Supporters say the pipeline could help reduce U.S. dependence on foreign oil and create thousands of jobs.

President Barack Obama on Wednesday said his administration had made no decision on whether to allow the project.
