NEW TOWN, N.D. (AP) – Three Affiliated Tribes Chairman Tex Hall says he will seek the position again on the oil-rich Fort Berthold Indian Reservation.

The tribe with 12,000 enrolled members will hold its general election in November.

Hall defeated Marcus Levings in 2010 to win the current four-year term.

Hall served two terms as chairman before losing to Levings in 2006. Levings beat Hall that year by more than 200 votes, but the contest dragged on for months while Hall unsuccessfully appealed his loss to the National Indian Gaming Commission and tribal courts.

Hall won the 2010 election with 55 percent of the vote.

Hall is a former president of the National Congress of American Indians.

The reservation accounts for about one-third of North Dakota's daily oil output of more than 1 million barrels.
