WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. (AP) - The Navajo Nation Supreme Court has set a hearing Monday on a petition to keep a disqualified presidential candidate off the ballot.

Attorneys for two men challenging Chris Deschene's candidacy filed the petition earlier this week. They say the Navajo Board of Election Supervisors was wrong to disregard an order from a tribal hearing officer that disqualified Deschene.

Deschene had refused to show he met a qualification to be fluent in the Navajo language.

Monday also is the deadline for Deschene to appeal the hearing officer's ruling.

The high court justices won't be weighing in on the question of fluency. They say Monday's hearing will focus on whether the board must enforce the disqualification order and move up the third-place finisher from the tribe's presidential primary.
