ADA, Okla. – Chickasaw Nation Governor Bill Anoatubby made history this week as he was officially elected to his eighth consecutive term as Chickasaw Nation Governor.

While Gov. Anoatubby filed for the position on the opening day of the filing period Monday, no challengers had filed for the position at the close of the filing period at 4:30 p.m. today.

Based on the Chickasaw Nation code, the team of Bill Anoatubby and Governor Jefferson Keel were re-elected as governor and lieutenant governor by a one vote margin when no challengers filed.

“It is my greatest honor and privilege to serve the Chickasaw people as governor of the Chickasaw Nation,” he said. “Working together with the Chickasaw people, we have made tremendous progress. With the support of the Chickasaw people, we will continue to move forward, with our mission to enhance the overall quality of life of the Chickasaw people as our guidepost.”
