TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Farm Service Agency (FSA) and Rural Development (RD) are partnering with the Oklahoma Tribal Conservation Advisory Council, Oklahoma State University and the Cherokee Nation to hold three workshops.

The workshops will held on July 22 and will provide training on Financial Records using Quicken Program or Manual Record Keeping and Farm Bill Eligibility. The Cherokee Nation will host the workshops at their tribal headquarters located 17723 Hwy 62, Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

The first workshop, Farm Financial Records using Quicken Program, will begin at 9:00 AM and will be held in the Tsa La Gi Ballroom. Quicken® is one of the most inexpensive and versatile accounting programs available to agricultural users. This “hands on” workshop will introduce you to Quicken’s features and demonstrate how to generate tax, cash flow and other reports to support the decision-making process.

Participants will learn to set up a file, import a farm category list designed to match Schedule F, use tags to track income and expenses for different production activities and generate reports and graphs. Fee for the 9:00 a.m. Quicken® workshop will be paid for the first 20 that register for the workshop. To pre-register for the Quicken® workshop contact Dr. Carol Crouch at the number below. The first 20 will have the fee of $25.00 paid.

The second workshop, Maintaining Manual Farm/Ranch Financial Records, will begin at 10:00 AM and will be held in the O-Si-Yo Training Room. Participants will learn how to keep manual records that will work with their Schedule F. To do this, we will discuss the components of the Schedule F, discuss the different types of income and learn what category each expense belongs in. In addition, the various agencies will work with examples of how to develop your own manual record keeping system.

The third workshop, Eligibility for USDA Programs, will begin at 2:00 PM and will be held in the Tsa La Gi Ballroom. This workshop will provide “hands on” workshop to cover the eligibility and application process for Tribes, tribal members, women in agriculture and producers to apply for Farm Bill programs.

Lunch will be provided; therefore, pre-registration for all workshops is requested. Contact Dr. Carol Crouch at 405-612-9331 or at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
