LAS VEGAS (AP) – The federal Justice Department says three Native American tribes in northern Nevada will receive more than $2.7 million in grants to pay for crime prevention and law enforcement programs.

U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden said Wednesday the Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe will receive almost $190,000.

The Shoshone-Paiute Tribes of Duck Valley is getting a $725,000 award for alcohol and substance abuse and $407,000 for programs to curb violence against women.

The Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California received $1 million for corrections and $372,000 for its tribal youth program.

The Justice Department says 206 awards totaling more than $97 million are being made this year to American Indian tribes, Alaska Native villages, tribal consortia and tribal designees.

Grants have been awarded since 2010 through the Justice Department Coordinated Tribal Assistance Solicitation program.
