ADA, Okla. – Chickasaw Nation Election Secretary Rita Loder announced candidates seeking four legislative seats and one judicial seat within the Chickasaw Nation. The filing period closed Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 4:30 p.m

Pontotoc District Seat 5 candidate Lisa J. Billy of Lindsay received no challenger. Incumbent Mary Jo Green will retire in October.

Pickens District Seat 3 incumbent legislator Linda Briggs of Marietta will face challengers Judy Foster of Mannsville and Michael T. Watson of Ardmore

Panola District Seat 1 incumbent legislator Beth Alexander of Achille will face challenger Clint James Hardison of Mead, Oklahoma.

Tishomingo District Seat 2 incumbent legislator Timothy K. Colbert of Sulphur will retain his seat as no challengers filed for the position.

Supreme Court Seat 1 incumbent Mark H. Colbert of Ardmore will retain his seat as no challengers filed for the position.

The candidates that did not receive a challenger will be elected by a one-vote margin, by the act of filing for office shall be counted as an affirmative vote.

Registered Chickasaw voters will vote by mail ballots, with ballots being mailed to registered Chickasaw voters July 7, 2016.

Ballots must be returned to the Chickasaw Nation Election Commission no later than 10:30 a.m. July 26, 2016. No hand delivered ballots will be accepted.

The Chickasaw Nation Election Commission shall conduct and supervise the ballot counting beginning at 11 a.m. July 26, 2016, at the Chickasaw Community Center in Ada. Results of the elections shall be announced the same day.
