BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s congressional delegation says the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indian Reservation has been awarded federal grants totaling $140,000 for housing repairs and improvements

The congressional delegation says the funds will be aimed at improving low-income housing on the reservation in north-central North Dakota.

The money comes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The tribe has said the reservation receives one-quarter of all welfare payments in the state. The tribe has about 36,000 members, though most don’t live on the reservation.
