FERNDALE, Wash. (AP) – The federal government has announced a $1.6 million stimulus grant to the Lummi Nation. The tribe plans to use the money to build a business incubator in Ferndale.
Commerce Secretary Gary Locke says the project is expected to create 200 jobs and generate $4 million in private investment.

Nationwide, $3 billion in grants, contracts and loans has been set aside for 564 federally recognized tribes in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

About $94 million in stimulus grants, contracts and loans have been awarded to Washington's 29 Indian tribes so far.
