RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) – Members of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe have voted down a proposal to ban possession of alcohol on the Wind River Indian Reservation.
The ban was among a number of proposed additions and amendments to the tribe's law and order code that were rejected by Eastern Shoshone voters last week.
Voters did approve eight individual changes that mainly pertain to crimes of violence against women and children. The changes include harsher penalties for those convicted of child neglect and child abuse.
Official results showed that 353 tribal members cast ballots in the election.
