WHITERIVER, Ariz. (AP) – The White Mountain Apache Tribe and the U.S. Forest Service are holding a groundbreaking ceremony this week for the tribe's native plant nursery.
The ceremony will be held Wednesday morning on the Fort Apache reservation in eastern Arizona. Tribal Chairman Ronnie Lupe and Southwest Regional Forester Corbin Newman will deliver remarks.
The tribe received more than $2.2 million in stimulus funding to design, construct and operate a native plant nursery.
The Forest Service says the nursery will help create jobs while providing plants to support restoration efforts on tribal lands.
