UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) – The new chairman of the Mohegan Tribal Council says keeping the tribe's Connecticut casino competitive and moving forward on a western Massachusetts casino project are among his priorities.
Bruce “Two Dogs” Bozsum (BOSS'-uhm) told The Day of New London after his election Monday that the economy makes every day a challenge. He says the tribe is facing competition from proposed expanded gambling opportunities in New York and Rhode Island.
Bozsum, who lives in South Kingstown, R.I. says the tribe remains “committed” to pursuing a casino project in Palmer, Mass., where it has optioned property for a smaller version of Mohegan Sun. Expanded gambling needs legislative approval in Massachusetts.
The 50-year-old Bozsum was previously chairman from 2005 to 2009 and says he's comfortable in the position.
