LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) – A forum is set in Little Rock on the effort by descendants of slaves owned by Cherokees who want to be included in the tribe.

The Nov. 14 forum will be at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock law school in downtown Little Rock.

A ruling in August by the Cherokee Supreme Court revoked the freedmen's citizenship, and the freedmen are suing in an effort to win full membership in the tribe.

Among the panelists will be Stacy L. Leeds, a Cherokee Nation citizen who is dean of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville law school. Also included is Marilyn Vann, president of the Descendants of Freedmen of the Five Civilized Tribes.

The forum is to run from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the law school's Friday Courtroom.
