After almost a year of campaigning, George Tiger claimed victory on Saturday evening as the new Principal Chief of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. As of 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, Tiger had received 2,942 votes and his challenger, Mike Flud, had received 2,177 votes, giving Tiger the majority, 57 percent of the vote.

Tiger, a Bristow resident, has served on the National Council for 14 years, and as Speaker from 2006-2007.

“Muscogee Creek citizens wanted change and proved that yesterday by their decisions at the polls. I am humbly honored that they chose me to represent them as Principal Chief and I will do my best to represent the people of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation to the best of my ability,” Tiger proclaimed last Saturday evening, ”I look forward to working with other newly elected officials in helping to provide jobs, better health care, and housing for the citizens of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. As Principal Chief, I will always make decisions which will benefit all Tribal members”.

Results will be official on Friday, November 11th at 5:00 p.m. according to election board officials.
