‘Hands on’ workshop to cover eligibility, application process for tribes, tribal citizens and women in agriculture


TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Cherokee Nation is hosting several USDA agencies for a hands-on workshop to aid agricultural producers in applying for and obtaining assistance for their operations. Two sessions are scheduled for Jan. 21.

The morning workshop will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Pre-registration begins at 9:30 a.m. The afternoon workshop will begin with pre-registration at 1:30 and the workshop will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

USDA agencies participating in the workshop will include the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Farm Service Agency (FSA) and Rural Development (RD). The focus of the training will be to review the FSA eligibility process and NRCS application. In addition, USDA staff will provide assistance in completing application forms. RD will be providing training on their application process and additional USDA program information will be made available.
