The South Dakota State University Landscape Architecture Program invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin August 2018.  Responsibilities include teaching courses within the professional curriculum, developing and carrying out an agenda of creative work and research, providing service to the discipline, university and community, and teaching in cross-disciplinary design studios.

Required qualifications include: (1a) terminal degree in landscape architecture or (1b) a first-professional degree in landscape architecture (BLA, MLA, or equivalent) and a terminal degree in an allied design discipline,  (2) professional experience in landscape architecture, (3) expertise in professional practice (including graphics, marketing and contract administration), digital design methodologies, plant materials, and design development and implementation at a variety of scales, and (4) effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred qualifications include (1) CLARB certification and/or a post-professional degree in landscape architecture, (2) established (or ability to establish) a research agenda, (3) experience teaching in a design studio, (4) experience teaching in areas related to the applicant’s research agenda, (5) evidence of resilient design practice, (6) a record of peer-reviewed publications and awards, and (7) a record of service within the discipline.
