NCAIED to host Reservation Economic Summit (RES) New Mexico

SANTA FE, NM — In just over a month, the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development (NCAIED) will host its next regional Reservation Economic Summit (RES) from November 16-19 at the Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino in Santa Fe, New Mexico. RES New Mexico brings together tribal leaders, elected officials, representatives from business, established or aspiring Native American business owners, and many more to learn, brainstorm, collaborate, and network in an innovative and motivational atmosphere. RES New Mexico will also feature several new and unique events, including a Youth Entrepreneurship Summit (YES) and a benefit auction for Valentino Rivera, son of former Pojoaque Pueblo Governor George Rivera.

"For the past three years, NCAIED’s regional Reservation Economic Summits have successively brought together tribal leaders, tribal enterprises, corporations and a host of federal agencies to expand business opportunities for Tribes and Native American business owners,” said NCAIED President and CEO Gary Davis. "We are looking forward to building on this success in New Mexico in what we expect to be the largest American Indian-specific economic development conference to come to the state. We hope Indian Country joins us as we continue what has become a can’t-miss business event."

In addition to seminars and sessions across a wide variety of topics, RES New Mexico will also feature a Native American business trade show, a Buy Native Procurement Matchmaking Expo powered by the U.S. Small Business Administration, an Interactive Access to Capital Fair, an American Indian Art Market, Business Scholarship presentations and a golf tournament.  The Native American 40 under 40 Awards will also be presented during the Indian Progress in Business (INPRO) gala during the conference.

RES New Mexico will host a benefit dinner and auction for Valentino Rivera, who is recovering from severe injuries sustained in a March car accident. NCAIED is hosting a new event – a one day Youth Entrepreneurship Summit (YES) to kick of RES New Mexico on Monday, November 16th. YES is designed for Native high school and college-aged students interested in business and entrepreneurship to hone their skills and learn more about what it takes to become successful in business. For the first time, NCAIED will partner with United National Indian Tribal Youth Inc. (UNITY) to collaborate on entrepreneurial programming specifically focused on American Indian youth. NCAIED believes this is the beginning of a more formal and expansive relationship with UNITY.

The most recent regional RES was held in June in Washington, DC. During the conference, NCAIED and tribal leaders also held a rally on Capitol Hill and hosted a listening session with Members of Congress – the first time such a rally has been held on Capitol Hill.
