WINNEBAGO, Neb. (AP) – Susie Buffett is helping the Winnebago Tribe build a research-backed Educare preschool and daycare.

The tribe plans to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the new $10 million center in Winnebago on Wednesday.

The project has the backing of the Buffett Early Childhood Fund, which has helped create other Educare centers.

Susie Buffett, who is the daughter of investor Warren Buffett, has focused much of her philanthropy on improving early childhood education.

Research has shown that low-income students often start school less prepared than their peers from middle-class and affluent families, and then many low-income students struggle to catch up.
