Please join us on Thursday, January 28, 2010 for THE SPIRIT OF OUR MUSIC Festival featuring R. CARLOS NAKAI with Hok-a-hey, the Oshkii Giizhik Singers, Mitch Walking Elk and Master of Ceremonies Martha Fast Horse.

Come join our winter concert that celebrates the spirit of our people!

Now more than ever we need our stories and songs that reveal our common struggles and shared aspirations.

The evening will be filled with song, laughter and joy. It will also be an evening of remembrance and recognition as we bestow the first Louis W. Ballard Lifetime achievement award upon FNCI's first Program Director, Ms. Georgia Wettlin-Larsen.

The Spirit of Our Music Festival will directly benefit our COMMON GROUND re-granting program, funded in part by the Ford Foundation's IllumiNation program. The goal of COMMON GROUND is to support activities that boost indigenous creative musicians, such as commissions, residencies, study, travel, outreach and production. Individual awards range from $500 t0 $7500. Grants are designed to give an immediate financial boost to composers, performers, and other makers of new & traditional music at a time when this help would have a significant career enhancing effect.

General Admission: $35
VIP: $100 includes an aftershow acoustic concert with wine, cheeses, dessert & coffee

Drumming will reverberate throughout the Powderhorn neighborhood as guests will be greeted by the drumbeats of Hok-a-hey! The National Eagle Center will be showing a LIVE EAGLE from 6:30 pm to 7 pm.
