Salazar to revisit nuke storage plan in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) – Utah's governor is asking Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to renew a fight against a nuclear waste dump on an American Indian reservation 45 miles southwest of Salt Lake City.
Gov. Gary Herbert says Skull Valley isn't the right place for spent nuclear fuel rods. Herbert called on Salazar at a public hearing Tuesday to appeal a court decision that reopened the storage proposal.
U.S. District Judge David M. Ebel of Denver ordered the U.S. Department of the Interior last week to justify a decision in 2007 that killed a lease on Indian lands for the project. Ebel said the government's decision was arbitrary.
Salazar promised Herbert his department would study the court decision and had 60 days to decide on an appeal.
