TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Susan Adair and Joe Bunch will face off on Monday, Dec. 1 in a run-off election for Assistant Chief. In the Tahlequah District a runoff is slated against incumbent Betty Holcomb and Anile Locust.

On Monday, November 3 United Keetoowah Band voters went to the polls to vote for District Representatives in five districts and in a special election for Assistant Chief. Four incumbents Eddie Sacks, Canadian; Clifford Wofford, Cooweescoowee; Peggy Girty, Illinois; and Charles Smoke, Saline; ran unopposed winning their seat for the next two years.

In the Delaware District, incumbent Jerry Hansen garnered 60 votes or 54.55% of the total votes to Adalene Smith’s 50 votes or 45.45%. In the Flint District, incumbent Tom Duncan was the top vote getter with 136 votes or 62.10% to Woodrow Proctor who received 83 votes or 37.90%.

In the Goingsnake District, incumbent William Christie received 63 votes or 64.29% while challenger Marcella Foreman received 35 votes or 35.71% of the votes. In the Sequoyah District, incumbent Barry Dotson received 33 votes or 71.74% while George McCoy received 13 votes or 28.26%.

In the Tahlequah District, incumbent Betty Holcomb garnered 69 votes or 30.26%; Anile Locust received 88 votes or 38.60%; James “Joe” Reese received 43 votes or 18.86%; and J.C. “Butch” Wilson received 28 votes or 12.28%. Holcomb and Locust will face off on December 1 in a runoff election.

In the special election for Assistant Chief, Susan Adair received 196 votes or 23.22%; Elizabeth Bird received 180 votes or 21.33%; Joe Bunch received 354 votes or 41.94%; and Dallas Proctor received 114 votes or 13.51%. Adair and Bunch will face off on December 1 in a runoff the Assistant Chief election.
