BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Leaders of the Three Affiliated Tribes are partnering with a Bismarck organization that helps homeless North Dakotans in an effort to better serve Native Americans who live in the city.

The Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation has donated $250,000 to the Ruth Meiers Hospitality House. The funding will assist the organization with expanding its crisis center.

Three Affiliated Tribes Chairman Mark Fox tells the Bismarck Tribune about 1,300 members of the tribes live in Bismarck, some of whom are homeless.

Ruth Meiers Executive Director Jaclyn Hall says about 20 percent of the people they serve are Native American. She says the program would help provide more crisis beds and full-time staff for that population.
