GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) – The Blackfeet Tribal Business Council has voted to remove councilman Jay St. Goddard from office.

Tribal council executive committee chairman T.J. Show told the Great Falls Tribune  Monday that St. Goddard was removed “because the integrity of the tribe has been compromised.”

The council passed a resolution in March suspending St. Goddard for 60 business days after he admitted participating in an illegal moose hunt on the reservation and intimidating and threatening tribal employees.

Show says an allegation of misuse of tribal equipment is still under investigation.

St. Goddard said two other council members made up charges against him because of his willingness to speak up about corruption, fraud and embezzlement within the tribal council. He also argued Monday’s vote was illegal because all nine council members were not present.
