TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) – The Cherokee Nation is hosting a reception next month for tribal military veterans who want to contribute military artifacts and other memorabilia to be displayed at the Cherokee Nation Veterans Center in Tahlequah.

The reception is Feb. 1 for veterans or families who are interested in contributing items. It will be hosted by Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Bill John Baker and Deputy Principal Chief Joe Crittenden.

The tribe wants to display uniforms, military gear, flags, recordings, diaries and photographs, among other items.

The 7,700-square-foot center houses veteran assistance and benefit offices, a kitchen, community room, and a library and museum. The entrance will feature a “Wall of Honor’’ of Cherokee veterans.
