GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) – The Oneida Tribe of Indians will have a new chairperson after the tribe’s July election.

Press-Gazette Media reports Chairman Edward Delgado was voted out during Saturday’s primary election.

Delgado prevailed earlier this year in a fight in which some members tried to remove him from office. A tribal court ruled his opponents had insufficient reason to remove him.

Preliminary results show Delgado received 147 votes in the primary involving seven candidates. The two top vote-getters, Greg Matson and Cristina Danforth, will face off in a July 12 general election.
